This term our topic is:
Where Would You Prefer To Live: England Or Kenya?
This half-term we will be learning all about Kenya. We will learn where Kenya is, what it is like there and how it compares to England. We will be enjoying an African Drumming workshop as part of our Wow Day, tasting lots of different foods and looking at African printing and patterns in art. We will be focussing on the book, Lila and the Secret of Rain throughout our English lessons and will write our own stories!

Reading is an essential part of your child's learning. Your child will be sent home with a colour banded book to match their ability. They will have a guided reading session every week, which will include shared reading, and accompanying tasks. Please take time to look at and read your child's reading books and any other books, with them. When you have read with your child please record this in their reading record. If a child reads 3 or more times at home each week, they will be entered into our 'In It, To Win It' draw to be in with a chance of choosing a golden envelope to win a prize!
The children continue to have access to The Bug Club online, where reading books will be allocated to each child. When they access the books there will be short tasks which they need to complete in order to win points. The more points they win the more time they get to spend it in the shop.
P.E. will take place on a Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child comes to school on this day in their P.E. kit. They will stay in their P.E. kit all day. Please also remember that children need to have their hair up in a pony-tail and to remove earrings and other jewellery for P.E. If your child has newly pierced ears please pop in to the office to fill in the appropriate form.
Could we ask that you help your child practise their spellings, which will be checked weekly. We then expect your child to begin to use these words in their writing. Spellings can be practised in different ways such as writing them out using paint, or in sand or practising them with magnetic letters or making a game up with them. You can also look out for them when reading and when you’re out and about!
